Joanne Stewart-Nash

Joanne Stewart-Nash

Principal and Manager

• BA First Class Honours Education and Early Childhood Studies

• Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
• Special Education Needs Coordinator

Jo holds the Montessori Diploma Qualification to compliment her BA (Hons) Degree and has worked with children and families in various establishments for many years.
Before taking over Burgh Wood Montessori Nursery School in November 2016, Joanne worked for a charity focusing on vulnerable children and adults and was involved in delivering literacy, drama and parenting workshops. Joanne’s career history prior to taking time out to raise her two children involved working in the City, being actively involved with various charities and running a Beaver group for girls and boys in London.
It has always been a dream of Jo’s to run her own Montessori school and to provide a stimulating and happy environment for children to learn and play.

Sarah Davies

Sarah has a diploma in Nursery Nursing and has worked in childcare for 26 years. Before joining The Orchard Team, Sarah worked at a local day nursery for 24 years. Sarah became the Manager of The Orchard in September 2017.

Sarah is married and has two children and a family dog called Toby! In Sarah’s spare time she enjoys going for long walks, bike rides and catching up with family and friends.

Sam Barter

Acting Deputy Manager & Early Years Practitioner

Sam has many years’ experience of working in child care settings, including Deputy of Burghwood Montessori where she worked for four years before taking a break from education in July 2017 to be a foster carer for Surrey County Council, where she gained lots more experience of working with families and professionals and felt this was a very rewarding time for her and her family.

Sam has now returned to Education working at The Orchard and is very happy and excited to be back on the team.

She has 3 children and enjoys her busy but happy family life.

Hayley Lee

Hayley holds a Level 3 qualification in Early Years. Before joining The Orchard Team in September 2019, she previously worked at Burgh Wood Montessori for a few years before taking a break to look after her family. Hayley has experience working with Special Needs Children and is looking forward to gaining more experience in this area.

Hayley is enthusiastic when working with the children and enjoys participating and observing the children’s play. Hayley is mum to 3 children and in her spare time she enjoys family days out. Hayley enjoys travelling to other countries as well as places in the UK.

Kelly Hickey

Kelly holds a Level 2 NCFE Certificate Introducing Caring for Young Children and Young People. Kelly has been working in a nursery school environment now for the past 4 years. Prior to this, Kelly worked as a volunteer helper at her children’s Primary school assisting children with their learning and accompanying the children and Teachers on school trips. Kelly often helped with the children’s reading.
Kelly is married and has 3 children and a family dog called Dolly! In her spare time Kelly enjoys spending quality time with her family on the beach in the Wittering’s.

Leigh Cohen

Leigh holds a Level 2 qualification, a Certificate in Early Years Education and Care. Leigh re-joined The Orchard in May 2018, after taking a break to gain her qualification. Leigh previously volunteered and worked with young children for over 3 years.
Leigh is a mum of two girls who attend the local primary school and enjoys a busy family and personal life. Leigh describes herself as energetic and caring and enjoys particularly supporting children’s imagination and creativity.

Our Early Years Foundation Stage training ensure we focus on physical development, social and emotional development, literacy, numeracy, an understanding of the world as well expressive arts and design.
